At iACT, we have great appreciation for the wonderful staff who make our service work possible! In this Staff Spotlight, Imane Houdaifa, iACT for Refugees nursery supervisor, tells us a little more about herself.

Q: Where are you from? How long have you been in Austin?
A: I am from Morocco. I have been in Austin since November of 2010.
What do you do at iACT?
I work in the nursery as the supervisor. I create lesson plans and make sure that the nursery is running smoothly.
What’s the most challenging thing about the work you do at iACT?
The most challenging thing is the communication with parents. There are language barriers that sometimes make it hard to get a message through. Thanks to my amazing staff who translate for me I am able to get most things across.
What’s the most rewarding thing about the work you do at iACT?
The most rewarding thing is knowing that I have been able to give these kids a chance to make some really fun memories and grow in their confidence both academically and socially.I am so grateful to be a part of something so wonderful.
Why would you encourage others to support the work of iACT?
iACT does such meaningful work! We are able to bring so many people of different faiths and backgrounds together to do good work and break down the barriers for one another. It’s a place where you not only get to serve others, you get to expand your world view and meet other people who aren’t just like you.
