The children are getting more and more comfortable with the nursery. We have started an art play and sensory station that has really captured the imagination of the children. The sensory stations, which have included water and sand play, have had a calming effect on the children.
During the morning we all like to work on a group project. For example, this past month, we decided to do a couple of lessons on flowers. With our art station, we created sculptures of flowers in different colors. We supplemented this art lesson with a science lesson on plants, which the children can water and watch grow each day.
We have also included life skills as part of our curriculum, which should be a delight to parents! We have an imaginative play area with a kitchen and dress up, and an area where children can “play” wash dishes. They are enthusiastic about this play area and I often have to get more sponges in the area because so many children love to play with the dishes!
