At iACT, we are so grateful for our Board of Directors! In this Board Spotlight Imam Jafar Muhibullah tells us a little more about himself.
Imam Jafar Muhibullah

Q: Where are you from? How long have you lived in Austin?

A: I am originally from North Carolina, the Research Triangle Area. I first moved to Austin in 2007 and moved out of Austin briefly in 2013 then returned in 2018.

How long have you served on the iACT Board?

This is my first year as an iACT board member, however, since moving to Austin I’ve taken part in iACT programs.

What made you want to serve as an iACT Board Member?

Through my involvement within iACTprograms since 2007, I witnessed the great work they do to bring people of different faiths together. This inspired me to become more involved with what iACT does for the Austin community.

What do you enjoy the most about your role as a Board Member of iACT?

I enjoy working with people of other faiths on the board to accomplish a common goal for bettering our community.

What’s the most challenging thing about working as a Board Member of iACT?

Perhaps the most challenging thing for me is trying to make it to all the great events that iACT plans. So, I encourage members from my own congregation to attend to represent our organization (IABA).

What’s the most rewarding thing about being a Board Member of iACT?

It is rewarding to see the fruits of the iACT Board’s planning realized and thereby the Austin community taking a greater step towards harmony and fellowship.

Why would you encourage others to support the work of iACT?

We live in the world today in which people are at odds with one another for so many different reasons. But, the main reason is that people have a lack of understanding of one another. This is where iACT steps in, to foster understanding, to bring about harmony and fellowship, and to help develop a common goal for people of different faiths for the betterment of the Austin community. This, I believe, is the reason why it is necessary to support the work of iACT.

Thanks so much for sharing your story with us, Imam!
