Last night, we had an amazing Red Bench event at First United Methodist Church. We came together as one community to discuss an increasingly distressing phenomenon in today’s world: the prevalence of religious intolerance. If you attended, we hope you left with a renewed sense of hope and a desire to combat religious intolerance wherever you see it. Below are a few resources that might help you in this journey.
The Charter for Compassion Islamophobia Guidebook can help you respond to the rampant Islamophobia in today’s world.
Author Gustav Niebuhr has also written a wonderful book that can help you better understand and combat religious intolerance in all of its forms. Consider checking out his book, Beyond Tolerance: Searching for Interfaith understanding in America, from the Austin Public Library.
Finally, the Divinity School at Harvard University is offering a wonderful gift to the public. A series of online courses focused on Religious Literacy are being offered completely free of charge to anybody interested in learning more about the role all religions play in our world. Just go online, sign up for the courses that look most interesting to you, and start learning!
