At iACT, we have great appreciation for the wonderful staff who make our service work possible! In this Staff Spotlight, Kristen McMath, our Administrative Assistant, tells us a little more about herself.

Q: Where are you from? How long have you been in Austin?
A: I was born and raised in a small town in West Texas, but came to Austin 7 years ago in 2011.
How long have you worked at iACT?
I’ve been with iACT for 3 ½ years.
What do you do at iACT?
A little bit of everything! Mostly keep all the administrative parts going, assist our Executive Director where needed and work a lot with our Hands on Housing program.
What do you enjoy the most about the work you do at iACT?
I love interacting with all the people that make iACT who we are; Meeting with homeowners and hearing their stories, participating in Red Bench conversations, and working with all our wonderful volunteers is always so inspiring.
What’s the most challenging thing about your job?
The most challenging part about this job is not being able to help everyone that contacts us. Luckily we have a lot of resources and organizations we work closely with to try and get everyone that needs help served, but it’s always hard when we are unable to help someone because of certain circumstances.
What’s the most rewarding thing about your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the smiles on our homeowners faces after we’ve repaired their homes. Our homeowners are so sweet and grateful and it’s a great feeling to see them so happy and proud of their home.
Why would you encourage others to support the work of iACT?
iACT does such meaningful work! We are able to bring so many people of different faiths together to do good work and break down the barriers for one another. It’s a place where you not only get to serve others, you get to expand your world view and meet other people who aren’t just like you.
