At iACT, we have great appreciation for the wonderful staff who make our service work possible! In this Staff Spotlight, Marzia Bellesi, Hands on Housing Program Specialist, tells us a little more about herself.

Q: Where are you from? How long have you been in Austin?
A: I was born in Italy and came to Austin from England 11 years ago.
How long have you worked at iACT?

What do you enjoy the most about the work you do at iACT?
I enjoy my personal interactions with refugees and learning about their unique personalities, backgrounds, and interests.
What do you do at iACT?
I’m a Program Specialist for Hands On Housing, the home repair program.
What do you enjoy the most about the work you do at iACT?
Meeting the clients is always the best part of the job, most of them have great stories to tell, especially the seniors.
What’s the most challenging thing about the work you do at iACT?
Sometimes it’s hard to walk our clients through managing bureaucratic matters without discouraging them from participating altogether.
What’s the most rewarding thing about working with iACT that you have experienced?
It’s always a wonderful experience to see our clients so thankful and appreciative, that’s by far the most rewarding part of the job.
Why would you encourage others to support the work of iACT?
There are many people out there who need help and don’t know what resources are available to them or how to go about looking for help in the first place. It’s important to spread the word in the community and advocate to bring people together in order to make all the great things happen!
