These days iACT’s Hands on Housing program is buzzing with projects, grant-funded repairs, and activity throughout the year, but many people may remember that the genesis and heart of the Hands on Housing program grew from volunteer event days much like our upcoming Spring Blitz. During these events, iACT Hands on Housing mobilizes volunteer teams from faith communities around Austin to come work together and provide exterior carpentry and painting transformations to homes around the city in one fun and sun-filled day. The old adage “many hands make light work” is embodied as people unite and dedicate a weekend day in early April to working together and accomplishing an amazing scope of work in a short amount of time. Homeowners are centered in this process, picking any color they would like for their home, and being present to give feedback and share preferences along the way. Hands on Housing believes everyone deserves to feel not just safety, but pride, comfort and agency in their home. If you or your community are interested in participating, we are still in search of volunteers for this year’s Spring Blitz event on April 6th! Come join us as we invest in our homeowners, our community, and our humanity with a truly “hands-on” opportunity. REGISTER HERE.
