3650, 1825, 365, 180, 90, 30, 14, 7, 1. My days are numbered and so are yours.

These numbers represent the days we may have left on this earth. We do not know which number of days applies to us, but one does. As I reflect on these numbers, I cannot help but think of my life’s journey and be grateful to God for putting so many people along my path who have touched my heart and supported me.

How will you spend the remainder of your days? I spend significant time with my husband, time working with people through causes I am passionate about, and time strengthening my relationship with God. Yet, at times I have an overwhelming feeling of not having enough time to do everything I want to do; like spending more time with family and friends, and fulfilling the commitments I made.

Sometimes the busyness of living, makes it a struggle to settle down, be silent and present to listen for God’s guidance of how to live my life.

Knowing my days are numbered, am I ready to leave this earth at any moment? What would you do if you knew how many days you had left? Would you change your life, spend more time in relationship with your higher power or with loved ones? Would you work less, travel and experience the world? Would you be more generous with your gifts and resources? Would you be more willing to release past hurts and to make peace with someone you care about? Would you then be able to love, embrace and accept yourself and your loved ones as they are? How would you reprioritize your life?

Knowing my days are numbered, accepting this and living life to the fullest could be the most reasonable thing to do. That may mean fully devoting my God-given gifts for the good of humanity, accepting my life is purposeful and that I am here for a reason — that I am God-sent. I believe our God given gifts are not for us but for others to benefit. We are here to help each other fulfill our destinies. I believe that the glow in someone’s eyes, the smile on their face and the connections felt confirm we are living the life intended for us. Transformative experiences happen when space is created, allowing others to also share their gifts and to shine. I believe through the sharing of one’s gifts true peace making happens.

One of my God-given gifts is the capacity to love — I love people. I believe everyone matters: people of all faiths, cultures, ethnicities, sexual orientation; immigrants, refugees, people living with disabilities, those with different political viewpoints; everyone contributes to this life, everyone has a purpose and everyone deserves respect. I enjoy listening, encouraging, motivating, but most of all hearing people’s stories, understanding how a person feels supported in living their lives to the fullest.

I have plenty of love to give, as do you. How can we work together to support our neighbors, to uphold each other? It’s really quite simple: we start from a place of love, knowing that we all belong here and are all connected.

Knowing your days are numbered — is being right and trying to prove it, more important than the relationship with a person you care about? Would it matter anymore? Would the days remaining be enough to resolve the issues in the relationship? Asking for God’s guidance can help us come to terms with a difficult situation and find direction. We can end a conflict by agreeing to disagree and letting bygones be bygones, so that we can move on and enjoy whatever time we have left with each other.

Now, knowing our days are numbered, what’s most important is living those days well and not worrying about how we will be remembered. Living our life guided by love, gratitude, intention and kindness; seeing the beauty in others, and knowing each person belongs, and is fulfilling their purpose, is really all that matters.

If you live your life touching the hearts of others, through sharing your God given gifts, that’s how you will be remembered.
