The Square One Lunch Program is a monthly opportunity for groups and congregations to meet the refugees living in our community. iACT holds a monthly luncheon the first Monday of each month for the refugee students in its adult English classes so that they can get a good hot meal, go over some orientation topics that makes Austin more accessible, and meet members of the Austin community. Between 50-75 students gather in the fellowship hall around different tables with language interpreters for up to 10 different languages.

The commitment is for a simple vegetarian meal with a dessert and fruit at Central Presbyterian Church, our main ESL site downtown. This could be prepared in advance, prepared at the church kitchen or purchased and brought in. No matter where the source, the refugees are appreciative of the opportunity. The meeting starts at 10:30 am and lunch is served at 11:30.
