“Humility is leaving room for a relationship with God.
Modesty is leaving room for a relationship with each other.”
-Matt Puckett, Red Bench Attendee

THANK YOU to all who attended the May 31 Red Bench event at the Austin Hindu Temple! Thanks to the members of the Austin Hindu Temple for their hospitality and for preparing some delicious Indian cuisine.  As we contemplated the place Modesty has in all of our lives, we shared our wisdoms, experiences and new awakenings with each other. One attendee, Matt Puckett, shared his new insight about the difference between humility and modesty: Humility is leaving room for a relationship with God. Modesty is leaving room for a relationship with each other.

We are fortunate to start new relationships and build on our current relationships as we leave room for each other.  Members of the Austin Hindu Temple gave us the pleasure of experiencing all of the beauty the Temple has to offer. Prior to our Red Bench conversation for the evening, some of us got the chance to tour the Temple, which is still under construction.  We learned about the many Deities in the Hindu Faith including Lord Krishna and his wife Radha, who represent love, and Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth. We look forward to visiting again to celebrate the opening of the completed temple!
